Buying Books: ‘even better than going to Lanzarote’

Today we took a lucky group of students to A Bundle of Books, an independent children’s bookshop in Herne Bay to spend the grant we were awarded by the Siobhan Dowd Trust. The grant was given to us to boost our brand new library and help us to expose as many of our students as possible to the joys of reading.

Andrea and Ellie at the bookshop planned a fantastic morning of activities to help our students browse the collection and choose their books. We ended up with over £600 worth of fabulous new books to enhance our growing library.

The group of 7 students behaved exquisitely and were a total credit to the school. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were even able to scan the books in, which caused great excitement! One student, Jamie-Lee Fox in year 7 declared the day ‘the best ever. Even better than going to Lanzarote’.

We’d like to thank Mr Inglis for kindly agreeing to drive us over in the minibus, Andrea and Ellie at the bookshop for creating such a wonderful experience that we’re sure won’t be forgotten, and the students for being so fantastic.
