Pupil Premium and Catch Up Funding

Pupil Premium is funding that is available for students that have been ‘looked after’, adopted or have had free school meals in the last six years.

The main objective of Pupil Premium is to reduce the gap in attainment between those eligible for Pupil Premium and those students presumed to be from more advantageous backgrounds, to give students an equal chance in life and a positive future, to raise aspirations and confidence.

To check whether or not you are eligible for Free School Meals visit the KCC website:

KCC Website - Free School Meals Alternatively call 08458 247 247, select option 2 and state your National Insurance number and date of birth. The operator will inform you there and then if your child is entitled to receive Free School Meals. Registering for Free School Meals will not affect any other benefits you are claiming. If you are eligible, please register as soon as possible to make sure your child and others in our school do not miss out on this vital funding.  Registering is quick and easy, using the following form:

Free School Meals Application Form Once you are registered, your child will be entitled to a free meal at lunchtime and we will receive an extra £600 to further support the education of our students. If you would prefer your child not to have a free meal, they are welcome to continue as normal; however, providing you are registered, we will still receive the extra funding.

In addition to Pupil Premium, Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch Up Funding targets extra support and interventions for Year 7 students and 16 to 19 Tuition Funding is a one-year initiative to support 16 to 19 provision and to help mitigate the disruption to learning during the pandemic.

The following documents explain how each strand of extra funding is used to benefit our students:
