Headteacher's Message

Thank you for visiting our website and taking an interest in the Sandwich Technology School Sixth Form. We hope you find the information provided here useful and informative.

There is no doubt that students in our Sixth Form are proud to be here. Students who have been with us in the lower years as well as those who are new to us in Year 12 soon find that they settle in and benefit from the family feeling that is a real feature of the school. Through our wide and varied curriculum, students can access a broad range of courses that are suitable for their abilities, talents and interests. We offer traditional and vocational A Levels (or A Level equivalent), a unique Transition Year for those who wish to consolidate their Level 2 studies, and a thriving Football Academy.

Our Football Academy has a long-established partnership with Chelsea Football Club.  It is housed within its own purpose-built building and has access to great facilities.  Unlike many school Football Academies which contract out the running of their provision, ours is staffed with our own dedicated team and is led by us – this means that students benefit from the expertise and knowledge that exists within the school as well as the experience and football-specific skills delivered by the Football Academy staff.  In essence, our students get the best of both worlds – the independence, autonomy and subject specialism that come from the Football Academy, alongside the support, facilities and wider social opportunities that come from being part of Sandwich Technology School’s Sixth Form.

For all routes of study, our highly-skilled teachers offer lessons that are both thought-provoking and challenging. At the same time, we offer support – both pastorally and academically – to ensure that our students get the best out of their time with us. We, along with the students, also have an eye to the future and offer first class careers advice throughout the Sixth Form – we are very proud of the fact that virtually all of our students progress to either University, Employment or Apprenticeships.

The young adults in our Sixth Form experience a new and different relationship with their teachers, which recognises their maturity and capability of taking on additional responsibility. If you choose to join STS we will go out of our way to help you to settle in, feel valued and also to have some fun! Life within the Sixth Form is enjoyable and vibrant and a great place to make new friends. I hope you will be impressed by what we have to offer and will want to come and be part of the experience!
