Year 10 assessment week
The final assessment week of the academic year for Year 10 will take place during the week commencing 3rd June. The purpose of the assessments is to allow teachers to gain a deeper understanding of the strengths and areas for development for each student within their class. It will also give students a chance to have the experience of answering formal GCSE examination style questions in preparation for their external exam and will assist us in determining whether a student might sit the Higher or Foundation Tier papers in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. A reminder that calculators and mathematic sets can be purchased from the school using the Parent Pay website.
We hope that all students will take the assessments seriously and prepare for them through carrying out revision activities at home. Videos on effective revision methods can be found on the school website here. Revision resources for each subject can be found on the school website here.
In the link below you can find for each subject the topics that will be covered on the assessment, the style and duration of the assessment and information on where to find information to help with these topics.
In addition to the specific additional support listed by the departments, every student in the school has access to an online platform called Seneca Learning. This is a site where students can access revision material and short recall quizzes about specific topics for a wide range of subjects. This can be accessed at http://www.senecalearning.com Sign in is with the student’s school e-mail address; passwords can be reset if needed by clicking the “forgotten my password” link on the Seneca site.
