Attendance

Promoting high levels of attendance and punctuality is seen as essential at Sandwich Technology School. Regular attendance at school is a major factor in students’ learning and achievement and helps to prepare our young people for successful progression to higher study, training and employment. The following document explains in more detail why positive attendance is so important:

Absence Requests

Students should only miss school as a result of illness or some other unavoidable reason. Parents and carers should be aware that Sandwich Technology School does not authorise holidays during term time and will use Penalty Notices in line with the code of conduct set out by the Government.

In exceptional circumstances, a parent can request that an absence be deemed as an authorised absence by the school. Any such request must be made to the Headteacher ideally at least two weeks in advance of the proposed absence using the following ‘Absence Request Form’:
