Personal Development
Sandwich Technology School is currently in the process of getting accreditation for the Personal Development that it offers all students at school. We are seeking to attain an award in Excellence in Pupil Development, that will demonstrate the wide breath of opportunities we provide within school, through the curriculum, through the extended curriculum and across the local community.
We are pleased to be working with the Award Place to attain this accreditation.

At the heart of the school’s success is a culture in which students, staff, parents and the wider community work together within a climate of respect. School leaders work to ensure that students, staff and parents are treated well and that communication with stakeholders is as effective as possible.
Non uniform days, special themed events in the restaurant and fundraising activities make school exciting for students with much to look forward to.
The school recognises the need to be an active part of the town of Sandwich and the surrounding community. Sandwich is a brilliant town to be part of with a thriving and unique culture. Thriving links have been established with local councillors, businesses and charitable organisations. Students regularly participate in events in the town such as litter picking, volunteer work or deepening their knowledge of Sandwich’s history and current community. Students raise money for good causes and show compassion and care for the vulnerable.
The school house system has been recently reinvigorated. The school community voted to name the four houses after historic landmarks within the town:
- Guildhall
- Fisher
- Strand
- Quay
All students and staff belong to one of these houses. Two staff members lead each house and students can apply to be house captains in their year group. The school calendar is full of house themed competitions and fundrasing events, including house assemblies.
STS traditions are not forgotten and the annual Pledge Walk in June is one way in which the unique spirit of this school, established through the generations is kept alive.
