Our school and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Information about the school

STS is an 11 to 18, mixed, secondary school that has an excellent reputation across Kent where "Pupils engage well in learning. They enjoy their lessons and behave well. Pupils show respect for each other and value the work their teachers do to support them" (OFSTED May 2019).

The success of our students from Year 7 through to the Sixth Form is due to the ‘can do, will do’ attitude that is the hallmark of staff and students alike. At STS we ‘Hold fast that which is good’: a broad and engaging curriculum; interesting, inspiring and innovative classroom practice; as well as a whole host of enriching extra-curricular activity. Throughout their time at STS the students are provided with quality advice, support and guidance to help them progress and grow academically, personally and vocationally. We recognise and celebrate diversity and understand that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is inappropriate for the unique individuals we serve.

Information on Section relating the Criminal Convictions or Cautions:

It is an offence for an individual to attempt to engage in regulated activity (working with children). As a result, an individual would be unable to carry out the advertised role if they have certain criminal convictions.

As part of the application process, we ask candidates about whether they have any criminal convictions that would prevent them from fulfilling the role.  Thi is to ensure the candidate is suitable to work for the school.  The school are also  required to carry out a DBS check in order to determine your suitability for the role.

Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us. We will take into account the circumstances and background of any offences and whether they are relevant to the position in question, balancing the rights and interests of the individual, our employees, pupils, parents, suppliers and the public.

We will treat all applicants, employees and volunteers fairly but reserve the right to withdraw an offer of employment if you do not disclose relevant information, or if a DBS check reveals information which we reasonably believe would make you unsuitable for the role. The amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are "protected" and are note subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account.

If you have any convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings that are not "protected" as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013) please complete the relevant section in the form below.

Alternatively please find word and PDF formats of our application form which can be filled in and submitted via email to personnel@sandwich-tech.kent.sch.uk .
