Hello there,

Thank you very much for your comments, I am so pleased to hear that **** work is improving; he tells me that he finds your subject interesting and I hope that when the next assessment week comes along, he will find that he can improve his grade.

I have told Miss Hood already, but would like you to know how very impressed we are with Sandwich Tech; *** has nothing but praise for the teachers & subjects and he seems to have settled in well; I think the change has been a really positive one and I believe he will do very well with you.

Thank you for everything and, in particular, for getting in touch about ****'s work.

Hi Ms Stone,

I've wanted to email you for ages just to say THANK YOU for being a wonderful teacher throughout GCSEs and ALevels.

You gave me the confidence to get a 1st in Digital Media and Society at Uni of Sheffield and go on to work in London as an Account Executive at a green tech company.

You had a monumental impact on my self-worth and indefinitely aided my passions in media and film which I now get to enjoy in my day to day life.

I truly wish you all the best!!

Hi Ms Stone

It’s great to hear from you.

So pleased how well **** is settling in. She is really enjoying going to school, has found a really good group of friends and loves the subjects and teachers.

So proud of her work with WWF. She will feature quite a bit in the full film to be shown from 27th November which I am sure you will see.

Also, I’m not sure **** has said anything as she often keeps quiet about things but so excited that on Saturday she is introducing and leading a q&a with Geri Halliwell in front of a large audience at WWF headquarters. She was chosen to represent WWF as the host of Geri’s book reading there as Geri is donating a percentage of the profits from her new book to WWF.

So proud!!!!! And I get to meet her too! Probably more excited than *****!

Many thanks

Quotes from 2022/23

Dear Ms Stone,

Good morning, my name is *****, I’m writing to you regarding my daughter *****; who is just finishing year 12. I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you and your team for the outstanding teaching and support that ***** has received. Both my wife and I cannot thank you and your amazing team enough. As a small token of our appreciation, we would like to deliver a case of wine this week, for the sixth form staff to enjoy as part of the end of the academic year. The attitude of all the staff, seems to be one of ‘above and beyond’ in supporting *****; this is no better demonstrated than by the inspiring idea of ***** applying to St John’s Oxford for a 4-day summer school. This is going to be a fabulous opportunity for her to experience what university life in general is like and I have no doubt will inspire her to further apply herself in the coming academic year. In addition to the 4-day summer school, **** has been so inspired by the open day that she already attended; that we have also signed ***** up for a 2 week Law course at Cambridge University over the summer holidays. The idea of reading Law at university is something ***** is very keen to pursue. Last week I had confirmation from the Oxford Law department that they would happily accept *****applying for a place to study Law; given that she is studying English and History, they are absolutely fine about her third subject being a Btec in Performing Arts. The ongoing support that the entire faculty continue to offer ***** is exceptional and I hope this brief note goes someway to demonstrating how much we all appreciate the professional and caring approach to teaching that you all deliver on a daily basis. Once again, thank you for all that you do.

I would like to thank you for giving the pupils such a wonderful experience.

Your passion for the trip shone through at the meeting and very much wished I was coming myself!!

***** came home showing me all her photos and explaining what everything was and now she would like to take me, so we will be planning our next road trip to the Battlefields with **** as my guide!!

Thank you for all your hard work, patience and knowledge which together, has made an unforgettable trip for ****.

Enjoy your summer!!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU again for taking the kids on the trip

Hi Mr Sharples,

We just wanted to say  'thank you very much'  for your support and help with  ***** during his time in Year 11.

Also the time you gave us, we really appreciated it.

I would also like to say how brilliant Mr Todd has been as a Construction and form tutor to *****.

He was amazing when ***** was having difficulty with other students around Easter time.

I hope you have a lovely Summer holiday with your family and if you ever fancy a game of cricket let me know!

Dear Mr Sharples

I'm very sorry to have started this, but not finished and sent it before now.  I wanted to respond properly.

Thank you for your kind email to *****.  She has benefited greatly from being a pupil at your school and we will always be grateful for the hard work that many teachers have put in.

I have found it hard to single out any particular teachers, as it seems they've all done a great job with her.  Some have had more time/contact with her, and I'm sure they know who they are and what they have done better than my second hand information.

I would like you to pass on my gratitude.  I can see the very positive holistic effect on her, personally and academically, so want to thank each and every one of them.

I know she was sad to miss Mr Patch's kind cake session last week, but she was booked on a train to see her mum for a few days.  I picked her up today, so she will be there in the morning.

She's decided to accept a place at Canterbury College.  I think it's good that she has grown in confidence, considering the very troubling circumstances she had been through for the couple of years before she moved down here to be with me.  The support of your school has been an invaluable part of her coming out of that successfully, whatever the results may be.

I feel it may be a shame that she will go elsewhere, but please know that we will always be grateful for what your school did for her, at a crucial moment in her life.

Thanks again

Thank you for your email. I'm actually in tears because we are exceptionally proud of how hard ***** has worked. And in our eyes successfully..

It's her 16th birthday today aswell and this email will probably be the icing on the cake.. literally.  So Thank you. In our eyes the thanks for her performance and dedication also lays with your support as teachers.

We think you deserve so much more recognition than your all given.

So thank you for the full support, effort and confidence that you've all put in.

Thank you, we are delighted to receive this feedback from you and the focus group of teachers for GCSE Maths and English and the excellent support you have given *****this term .

***** has been very focused and determined to achieve the grades required to enable him to continue his studies at A Level with STS.

Since starting at STS in October 2021 and a move from his school in London , we as a family are very proud of ***** of what he has achieved in his studies and learning a new GCSE exam board at STS.

Despite his prior difficult personal circumstances that prompted the move to STS , ***** has worked hard to obtain his confidence , and this clearly shows the support ***** and us as a family received from Mrs Wanstall at the initial meeting , and this has continued with yourself ,  and the STS teachers .

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the email sent to ***** of recognition with support and continued encouragement  of all her hard work.  She is making us so very proud every day with her mature and focused attitude towards her revision and exams, she works so hard and I couldn’t ask her for anymore than she has done and continues to do.  I am supporting and encouraging her at home but an email such as the one sent to her today from yourself, I know, will have a huge impact on her for this final part of a very stressful and exhausting period of her school life.  I know it will give her the motivation for this last coming week and is very much appreciated.

Good Morning

Thank you very much for taking the time to send such a fast and detailed reply.

Hello Mr Sharples.

Thank you so so much for everything that you have done.  ***** did tell us about the wreath and we are all so grateful to you for doing that, we really didn't expect this and it was so kind of you. Myself and ***** are hoping to try and get ourselves there to experience it for ourselves.

I am so pleased that you have been able to bring Hurlstone's story alive and for the Children to learn about a relative. ***** is fine about it all and I really think that you brought it all to life for him and was able to get him to understand the significance of it all.  So Thank you for doing that for us.

Again Thank you so much for everything that you have done.  You have gone above and beyond.

Dear Mr Sharples,

I just wanted to take a moment to show my appreciation and say a very big thank you for organising and leading the Battlefields trip to France and Belgium last week for Yr 9.

I fully appreciate how much time and effort this event must have taken to plan and run and you obviously put a lot of thought into the schedule and activities.  I am aware that trips such as these are a big responsibility for staff and it's thanks to people such as you, that children are able to benefit from and enjoy them.

Our daughter *****, had a fantastic time. She was keen to show us all her photos and talked so much about what she saw, what she learnt and the history surrounding the trip.

I think it was even more special for ***** as it was her first time away from home on a school trip. She sadly missed out on her Year 6 residential because of Covid.

Please pass my sincere thanks to all involved in the trip. Those who went and made it so enjoyable and those who worked behind the scenes.

Kind regards and many thanks again.

Dear Cecile

I just wanted to pass on some feedback from our staff after your visit.

All of the staff have been commenting to me about your visit. As we have a considerable amount of school visits in the year it’s unusual for them to come and find me to this extent, but the students made an exemplary impression with their general conduct and enthusiasm. Our workshop leaders were also very complimentary about the support offered by members of staff and thought that everyone should be congratulated on representing the school in such a positive manner. Please thank the pupils and staff involved for making it such an enjoyable visit.

Quotes from 2021/22

Dear Mr Cadby,

I just wanted to write to express my heartfelt thanks for the prom that took place last week.

***** described it as ‘probably the best night of my life so far’ which was praise indeed coming from her and amazing to hear.

I think that all children have suffered during the last few years however it has been exceptionally hard for Year 11’s to stay focused and sit their exams so it was really nice that they had the prom to look forward to.

I know people are always quick to criticise but no so quick to offer praise so I thought it was important to let you know how appreciative we are. I know these events take a huge amount of time and effort to run smoothly.

Please extend my thanks and gratitude to everybody involved in the planning and preparation of the prom and to those staff that turned up on the night and lined the path to cheer and clap. It was a very special evening and those students will always remember that night and the happy send off they had.

“All of you at Sandwich are just brilliant, the SENCO has been brilliant and all the teachers. We couldn’t be happier with the school.”

Good morning

I have left a voicemail in reference to ***** but I wanted to follow this up with a THANK YOU to all the staff that looked after ***** so well yesterday, when he had his accident. I was a little emotional at the time but made so much better by seeing the wonderful care given to him on the playground and another thank you to the lady that kept me informed.

***** is well, it was a dislocation, that was popped back in and thankfully nothing broken, a little swollen and some pain but the doctor got him walking albeit a little slowly and he was discharged at 17:00.

Thanks to you all again

Dear Ms Kent,

I wanted to send a quick email to say thank you for the support you showed **** and myself yesterday and the things you have put in place for her so quickly. It was really reassuring to hear a school be able to identify the trauma she has experienced, how this is impacting on her and put in help for her so quickly, which is just amazing and above my expectation of the outcome of the meeting yesterday….

A lady called Mrs Bourne kindly called the school on Wednesday 2nd February to compliment and praise several STS students. Unfortunately, she has no names.

Our students were waiting at the Guildhall bus stop on Wednesday afternoon, Mrs Bourne disembarked at this point and asked our students to help a blind lady with a guide dog who had remained on the bus. The driver was being most unhelpful. Students were asked to ensure that the blind lady was told when the bus reached Ash.

Mrs Bourne has said that the students were kind and courteous and she was confident that the students would comply with her request.

Dear Mr Beale.

Thank you so much for your email. I am delighted that **** is showing some passion within PE. He has already been rewarded for his efforts and to encourage him to keep up the good work.

This has also included him looking into doing something more challenging physically outside of school, such as Army Cadets. He was wanting to pursue a career in the military or Police Force (Follow step fathers Navy footsteps). Unfortunately, as he suffered a stroke age 7, this is something he could not achieve. But since doing PE with you ****, its reignited a passion within him regarding Sport and Science. I know he is partially enjoying the orienteering side recently. So, he has started looking into what he COULD achieve. As well as wanting to become fitter and healthier.

So thank you, for being such an awesome teacher.

Dear Mrs Savage

Thank you very much for your email regarding *******’s attendance. It is lovely to receive acknowledgement in this way.

I also want to take this opportunity to pass on my thanks to yourself and your team for making such a positive impact on **** at the start of her secondary school journey. With the pandemic stopping so many important steps in the transition from primary to secondary, there was a worry that **** would struggle with the change, but, thanks to you and your excellent staff, **** has had a superb transition so far and is actually enjoying the new challenges secondary school has to offer. We are very pleased with her progress and attitude to school.

Please could you pass this on to your team, especially Ms Lawson, ****’s form tutor who has played a key part in *****'s transition.

Thank you again.

Wishing you and all your staff a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Dear Mrs Savage

I am writing to you to thank you and your staff, cleaners, admin, caretakers, dinner ladies/men etc..etc... for the outstanding support and care that you have shown our children over the last few months in unprecedented times. I feel that it needs to be said as too often you guys get taken for granted and are unappreciated for all that you do.

As a Foster Carer to one child in year10 , who by the way, has thrived in your school since moving 18 months ago from another school and for my own child in year 7 who positively loves it, it's important to give you that feedback. It must be so hard and extremely challenging to get it right but in light of recent data I feel you have made the right decision. And this must have been an extremely difficult decision to make. I know foremost on your minds must have been the children's education and the importance of continuing that for the sake of their futures, I would not have wanted to be in your "shoes". I think overall my point is to thank you all and just to say keep up the good work as it may not feel like it at times but it really is appreciated by so many of us.

Keep safe and hope to see you all again soon

Good evening,

Many thanks for your email today. I worked on a site in London where Covid19 had infected several of its site staff, one of the supervisors I was working in close proximity to, tested positive. I had to self-isolate because of this, but am lucky enough to have access to fast testing. Fortunately enough I tested negative and was able to return to work. This turn of events definitely influenced my decision today to keep my daughter off school, however, I greatly appreciate the content of the email sent today and am happy for her to return to school tomorrow.

I would also like to express my admiration and gratitude to all staff at Sandwich Technology School, particularly during these uncertain and trying times.

Hello

I just wanted to send our thanks over for all the help given at the school HPV session on Weds 17th March. Getting 220 children vaccinated in under 4 hours was a massive logistical ask from us to you and you absolutely did not disappoint. From ensuring a steady flow of children to the mad dash to get the last few before the school bus pick up you were absolutely invaluable. Thank you so much for all your help and please pass on to everybody that was involved. We look forward to seeing you very soon to do it all again.

Many Thanks

Hi Anna,

I just wanted to say thank you to all the teachers who have supported him. Despite one difficult year, I forget which one! He actually has been settled, for the time he has spent in school since year 10 (realise that amounts to only a few months!) He has struggled but fingers crossed he gets suitable grades to do his level 2 mechanics at college. He is determined to be a mechanic so I hope this works out for him.

Apologies to all those teachers I have driven mad over the years.

My son said he didn’t get chance to say bye to some of his teachers and therefore I have copied the names I remember into this email. Also, his TA, whose name I have forgotten, he actually got on well with her in the end and appreciated her support in English particularly.  Maybe this could be passed on, but my son would hate it if he knew I had written this Email. It’s good though that he used to come home and talk about his day, especially over the last couple of months.

Thank you.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your hard work and trying to teach and support ** under difficult circumstances.

I'm confident he will recognise the effort from you and some others as he matures. I certainly do.

Enjoy your half term.

Kindest regards

Hi Anna

Just to say ** is planning to attend the party on the 9th & I give consent. He doesn't want parents there so we're not planning on attending.

I also wanted to thank you for your support over the past years. Secondary school has definitely not been a smooth ride for ** & there are things I'd change if I could, but I very much appreciate all that you did looking out for him and trying to help him make better choices. Here's hoping the next chapter is a smoother one!

Thanks for all that you do, have a lovely summer,

Best wishes

I just wanted to send my greatest thanks to yourself and everyone that has supported ** this last year. Throughout our worst times, I have found the school very supportive and willing to work with us to enable ** to continue schooling from home when everyone else was returning to school, so he could continue protecting his dad. And for the support we received when ** passed away, I cannot thank you enough!

Please pass on my thanks to all concerned!

Thanks and kind regards,

Dear Mr Shenton,

I know I have thanked you several times (sometimes whilst crying!) but I just wanted to put in writing how grateful ** and I are for the support that you and the rest of the staff have shown us during the recent difficult times with his health. It has made the worry so much less knowing that you were all behind us and your regular phone calls checking up on us have been so welcome.

I know that ** has enjoyed his years at STS, he has learned so much from some amazing teachers. Who knows, maybe one day when he is a famous astrophysicist he will come and do a talk to future science students!

Sending my very best wishes to you all.

Good morning,

I just wanted to say thank you to each of you for all of your help, understanding and effort you have given ** during her time at sixth form.  I know in the first year she wasn’t overly enthusiastic and lockdown didn’t help, but in the last year she has matured so much and having Liverpool uni in her sights seems to have made all the difference. She told me of her award yesterday and was in tears as she was so happy. So again thank you all so much for being there for my daughter and seeing her through this stage of her life.

Kindest regards

Dear Maria,

It’s been a long time and I wanted to catch up. I’ve completed my foundation year at uni and I am currently averaging at 70/100. Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity, I am looking forward to year one! Obviously meeting new friends has been difficult during this time, but ** and I are together on the film course so I was happy to have someone I knew, and have met a couple of friends through her. I also met my girlfriend the year before and we are very happy together, I’m even going to be a dad!! Things are all looking up from this path, thank you so much for always being there and seeing potential. I hope you’re doing okay? How’s Andy and Rebecca? Mum and dad say hi too :)

All the best,

Good morning

We would like to pass on our thanks to both Ms Carroll and Ms Nash for the way they have dealt with, and continue to deal with our daughter **.

Her blood levels were high today and the communication given to us and care given to ** was extremely helpful and prompt as always.

We have dealt with both members of staff a few times before and they are always professional and caring.

We would be very grateful if you could pass on our thanks to them.

Kind regards

Dear Mrs Savage

I am quite emotional writing this after a tough tough week. Miss Bowden suspected ** had self harmed , alerted Mrs Clewes and Mrs Parker and I received a call from Dom. One of the worst calls I have ever received and the panic, fear and just wanting to get to ** as soon as possible I cannot express my thanks enough the response was phenomenal and the love and support that ** has received and referral and access to counsellor so promptly, communication from Dom to me It’s been a heavy week many tears have been shed and much chocolate has been ate.

You have an utterly amazing team and I can’t express my gratitude enough that you responded, cared and intervened so quickly Thank you, thank you, thank you

Thank you so much for this email with all the really useful links and advice for **. I must say I’m so impressed with the way you are helping him to feel so excited and comfortable despite there being no transition day! Much appreciated!!

Many thanks

Dear Mrs Parker

I just wanted to follow up on our chat on Friday with a quick thank you.

When I spoke to you on Friday I was still in shock and trying to take in what had happened and make sense of the situation. I have now had time to process everything and talk to ** a bit more about what happened. I have spent most of the weekend worrying/over thinking everything but that just sums parenting up!

I have to say that I have been very impressed by how maturely ** has handled it all. Thank you for giving her the time and opportunity to sit and write that letter to us.

Anyway I just wanted to make sure that I expressed my sincere thanks to both you and Ms Clewes for all you did for ** on Friday. Your care, concern, support and actions were very much appreciated by us all. You both went above and beyond and for that and your understanding we will always be very grateful.

Kind regards,

July 2021

Hi Sam,

I just wanted to send a little message as there is only 1 day left of school.

I am incredibly proud of STS and I cannot thank you enough for all that has been done during this academic year. I am grateful to all the staff for their constant support in home learning and creating engaging material, which has been brilliant for us.

This academic year has been testing in more ways than one, I truly feel you’ve always had the children’s well-being at the front of every decision made, ones that can’t have been easy.

I would especially like to send my thanks to Miss Hood, ** is very fond of her and is constantly saying how amazing she is, she really listens to him and explains things in a way he gets. I can say first hand how teachers shape children and that I have fond memories of some of my teachers. So, thank you very much.

Have a wonderful, restful summer, you all deserve it.

July 2021

Hi

Before the madness of tomorrow takes over, I wanted to just drop a very quick line to thank you both for your support this year especially with ** and please extend this also to Lucy Wanstall.

It has been the strangest year and this summer break up really is nutty,

Here is to a much better year in all ways from September and to what I hope is going to be a nice hot summer

Thank you again

Quotes from 2019/20

Dear Mrs. Savage,

We are writing to say a big thank you to the school as a whole for all the support and encouragement you have provided ** & ** with since their journey began with you back in Year 7.
We have seen them grow, become more confident and show a real interest in their learning.
We are so grateful to all the teachers who helped make their journey through secondary school a success and would like to thank them all, as well as all other staff that supported them day to day.
It is wonderful to experience a team of teaching staff that work so hard and give so much of their time to support the students.

Many thanks,

Mr & Mrs. **.

September 2019

Dear Mrs Savage

I should have sent this a week or so ago when ** received her GCSE results. However due to 6th Form clothes and other school shopping expeditions it’s a little late!

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the teachers that ** has had over the past year. They played a big part in giving her the confidence, knowledge and encouragement to succeed as well as she did, we are so proud of all the hard work she put in and although this was down to ** it is also due to the amazing teachers you have that helped her along the way, sometimes giving up their own time to sit with her to explain when she wasn't sure. The biggest thank you goes to Mr Sykes.

** was only predicted a grade 2 in year 10, unfortunately maths has always been her weakness and she was certain she would fail. Mr Sykes has, in just one year, managed to turn her marks around and gave her the confidence that she could pass and I'm pleased to say she did! He was truly amazing and never gave up on her, a trait that all of **'s teachers have.

Having had our two older children attend Sir Roger Manwood’s and having attended a Grammar School myself, I will admit I was rather sceptical about ** attending Sandwich Technology, however, I can hand on heart say that I would recommend your school and the teachers to anyone. We could see from attending parent's evenings that all of **'s teachers actually love what they do and it’s not just about the high achievers it’s about giving all the children’s confidence to succeed and the support that they need to do it.

** will be returning Thursday to start 6th Form which she is looking forward to and hopefully will continue, with the help and support of her teachers, to work hard and succeed in her 'A' levels and go on to university. (A first for our children!)

Once again thank you to Mr Sykes, Mr Stroud, Mrs Collins, Mrs Cox, Mr Powell and Mr Wakeley with your help and encouragement ** has made us very proud parents and you should all be very proud of yourselves!

Kind regards

Mrs **

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff who have helped my son settle into Year 7 and my daughter settle into the sixth form. My son really struggled with primary school but he has loved every minute so far at Sandwich. My daughter was very nervous about transferring from Manwood's but says it was absolutely the best decision and her teachers are amazing at Sandwich.

** has started year 10 and he has only good things to say too about your school!

Thank you!

September 2019

Hey Maria,

I hope you’re well! So today I had my first day at uni!!! It was amazing, ** is on my course from sixth form and I saw ** around campus too. It was amazing to experience just a glimpse of this new life and it’s all thanks to you! I hope to see you soon and thank you again!!!

All the best,

**

September 2019

Dear Mr Cadby,

I would like to thank you and all of the year 11 teachers for providing an informative, structured and supportive environment throughout the GCSE process. ** has successfully achieved the results he required to move on to his chosen path and couldn't be happier.

The immersion sessions that were organised through the exam period were invaluable and really helped consolidate the revision process and personal touches such as providing bananas to aid concentration, were very appreciated.

This level of support given by the school really added to the support that we were able to give at home which made for a smooth process throughout the GCSE exam process for which we are very grateful.

** has enjoyed his time at Sandwich Technology School and as parents, we are very happy with the schools performance and would recommend it to other students.

Please pass on our appreciation as necessary.

Kind Regards,

**

Dear Mr Cadby,

I would like to reach out and thank you from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for the support, kindness and patience that you show to **.

The action you take, the time spent makes ** feel supported and SAFE. Over the past couple of years school has been so very hard, ** feeling misunderstood and unsupported by many teachers. I have fought getting him to attend, to believe in himself and know that everything will be bright in his future.

** is frightened and anxious about loosing people he loves BUT YOU make that every day task of going to school easier- he knows you care.

You should know how much you do for the children in your care, thank you again for ** not just being a number or another student.

Best wishes

Mrs Tracey Savage

I would like to bring to your attention the selfless action of one of your pupils to whilst in Deal today, Saturday, **, a lady passed out & badly cut/cracked her head as she landed on the pavement, without hesitation ** & his friend immediately called 999, ** managed to get through first & relayed the situation whilst members of the public were attending to the lady, the call took some 15 minutes for ** to go through the details required, whilst we were waiting for an ambulance the two lads went off to try and find something to cover the lady & managed to come back with a towel, not happy with that they went off again to see if they could find something more suitable, I cannot praise the action of these 2 young lads enough as they also stayed until the Paramedics arrived & the lady was being taken care of.

Their parents should be very proud of them & what a fine example of the younger generation & also Sandwich Technology School, I am also sending a copy of this to his friends school & I trust you will pass on this well deserved praise.

Kind regards

Hi Tracey,

I took my daughter (who's currently in y5) and my husband to look around STS this evening and wanted to share their feedback. Chloe is already familiar with our wonderful English department but she hadn't seen the rest of the school before... she was so excited by all that is on offer, particularly the technology and art rooms. She also said Kev's food is 'better than Gordon Ramsey'!

My husband said our school is 'very impressive'. He was also complimentary of the students; all polite and enthusiastic.

I felt great pride showing them STS!

Subject: Re: Hampers....

Hi Luke,

Very many thanks from the Dover Outreach Centre and the Winter Night Shelter.

We have added you onto our Facebook page and tagged in your own page as well.  We rely heavily on public donations such as this as we are one of the few homeless charities which do not receive any government support.  You have made a huge difference to our homeless people in Dover.

Thank you again.

Happy Christmas to you all at Sandwich Technology School.

Every blessing,

Vee Bentley

Centre Manager

Dover Outreach Centre

Dear Mr Wakeley

I would like to thank you very much, on behalf of Catching Lives, for the recent donation of hampers.  I understand these were made by some of the students at Sandwich Technology School.   Please pass on our thanks to all who helped in making such fabulous gifts which were very much appreciated by our clients over the Christmas period.  A lot of work went into making these and we appreciate all the donations we receive and they go a long way in supporting the clients who access our Day Centre.

At the moment we are running our Winter Shelter. Using seven halls in the Canterbury area (one each night) this will operate from to the end of March providing a number of beds for rough sleepers to shelter from the cold weather and also work with staff/volunteers to find more permanent housing.

We very much appreciate the support of Sandwich Technology School and your students.

Thank you again.

Yours sincerely

Good afternoon Ms Savage,

Happy New Year to you. I would like to take the time to tell you how impressed I have been with members of your staff and to ask you to pass on my thanks.

Mr Cadby as you will know is Head of Year 11 and his support over the past month has been very much appreciated, firstly Mr Cadby has been pro-active in communicating with us due to some concerns over my daughters progress in school and then more recently I informed Mr Cadby that my mother was very sick and ** appeared to be struggling emotionally, Mr Cadby offered emotional support to ** and responded to any correspondence that I made almost immediately, I felt very comforted by his support of **.

I would also like to say that Ms Robson and Mr Sykes both made themselves available to give ** additional support, this support enabled ** to continue in school feeling confident that she had a safe place to go when she felt upset and unable to cope.

Just before end of term during mock exams unfortunately my mother lost her fight with Cancer and on informing Mr Cadby of this news he again made arrangement for ** to have support in school and re-scheduled her exam the morning after mum had passed as she was very emotional but wanted to be in school, and then again on informing him of funeral arrangements.

This has been a very distressing year for ** and one that ended awfully but it has been very refreshing and comforting to have had such support from your team during a very difficult time for us and felt that I wanted to let you know what I am sure you already know that your team are a credit to you and Sandwich Technology school.

Thank you again.

Good morning,

Please can you forward this to your heads of Year or pastoral managers responsible for rewarding students?

I have just met four of your students while walking in Eythorne. They were tidying the woods and had collected litter and put it in a concrete bin. They had also got lots of fallen branches and made a log pile.

My husband and I had only that morning been lamenting how much litter there was on our roadsides and hedges, and we were cheered to see your young students taking care of their environment.

I explained I taught at Astor and that if they were my students I would commend them, so please could you reward them for me?

Kind regards,

Dear Lynn,

I have just realised that I must apologise that I failed to thank The School for its collection on behalf of the Children's Society at the Welcome Service.

It was so close to Christmas and the holiday that I did not do it immediately.

On behalf of the Children's Society I would be most grateful if you could pass on our thanks to all those involved in the collection which raised £75.20 for the very valuable work that is done by the Society on behalf of vulnerable children and young people.

We are most grateful for your continuing support

With all good wishes

Yours sincerely

Quotes from 2018/19

Dear Mrs Savage/Mr Sharples,

I am glad you have implemented the mobile phone policy at your school recently and would like to encourage you to stand by the policy and not be deterred by anyone.

At home we are trying to reduce gaming/screen time to get the right balance. It is difficult, but we are persevering!

I am the proud father of 3 students who attend Sandwich Tech.

Incidentally, I was blown away when I attended a parental evening, led by Mr Sharples, about my daughter’s trip last term to Belgium/France. Your knowledge and enthusiasm was inspiring. I think also your commitment and care for pupils was self-evident when you talked at my daughter’s option choices evening.

I know my children are in safe hands.

Never stop getting better as to a large degree, their welfare and futures are in each of their teacher's hands. Every moment matters and every young person matters.

Be inspired, be different, be courageous, be persistent! Never give up or lose heart.

September 2018

Good evening,

We have just returned from the open evening and I just wanted to email and say a massive thank you to our wonderful guide who is in year 11. My son was very nervous and shy when we first arrived and our guide was wonderful at putting him at ease and he absolutely loved his first insight into secondary school. The school was incredibly friendly and welcoming and our guide was definitely an example of this.

To sandwich technology school,

I would just like to say a huge thank you to all for your warm welcome, our tour was amazing with the lovely polite ambassador who told us so much information, we are so grateful, thank you. What stood out for me (the parent) was, the politeness and happiness of all children, it was so lovely to see and hear. The talk with the Headmistress was very good and very clear and I agree with everything that was said, I was very impressed with all students that took centre stage to talk to us too, how very brave but brilliant. I’m very impressed and would be very proud to see my daughter in your school,

Thank you all again.

October 2018

“My wife and I, along with our daughter attended your open evening in September. We are writing to congratulate you as we were escorted around the school by a very informative guide and an excellent ambassador for your school. Our daughter was a little daunted by the whole secondary school experience but our guide explained her opportunities and experiences at Sandwich Technology School and our daughter seemed to be reassured.”

October 2018

“Good morning,

I wanted to say my son and I attended open day yesterday and it is such a lovely school. He’s very keen to go here.

After the open day my car broke down in the field and four members of staff were very helpful.

The staff whom helped were very generous in that embarrassing time for myself.

Thank you again.”

October 2018

My husband and I are very much looking forward to the Celebration evening this Friday. We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for the amazing work that you do on a daily basis.

My daughter has thrived being at STS and we are so thankful not only for the education she receives but for the fantastic role modelling that you and your staff provide. Collecting her GCSE results in August was such an emotional experience as we were overwhelmed by the professionalism and commitment of your staff that have enabled her to achieve what she has. We have never tutored our daughter, instead believing that she will come to things in her own time and in her unique way. Alongside this we have always felt confident in you and your staff's expertise. I do hope that you will find a moment in Friday's proceedings to thank and congratulate your staff who have made the successes possible. I look forward to seeing you on Friday and hope that you too allow yourself to bask in the fruits of your labour, I don't think there have ever been such challenging times in education, so for you and your team to achieve what you do in the way that you do it is exceptional! THANK YOU!”

November 2018

Hi Tracey,

I would like to make you aware about some great service from your team.

My daughter’s laptop had stopped working, but she only made me aware after the warranty and insurance had run out.

I emailed your tech team and spoke with a chap called Alex Grant.

Not only did he offer to look at it, he also has got it working again. I’m really pleased with how quick he was in answering my emails and fixing the problem.

Can you let him know to keep up the great service.”

Good afternoon,

Thank you very much for feeding back on my son’s progress, he has worked really hard and I think since visiting universities over the last month or so and receiving offers on condition of gaining enough points has really focused him.

Thanks very much for your support and guidance with him.

Kind regards.

Good Afternoon,

I am a former student at the Sandwich Technology and now Primary School Teacher.  I'm sending this e-mail regarding my former Math tutors (Mr Brett and Mr Towlson).

Throughout secondary school, my passion for Maths was always encouraged and supported by Mr Brett and Mr Towlson, who always expressed a belief in my ability, for which has always stuck with me and continued to fuel said passion. Building on this, one of my fondest memories of secondary school life was the yearly Maths Challenge, which took part in Years 10 and 11.

I'd just like to say thank you for being such positive influences on me in secondary school and encouraging me to follow my passion, without that encouragement, I probably wouldn't be a teacher myself now.

March 2019

Dear Mr Sharples

I would just like to say thank you to both the school and the Military for allowing my son to go on the trip to Belgium. He has been having quite a lot of issues the past year and they’ve had such a negative impact on him both emotionally and mentally and this trip was the first thing I’ve seen him enthusiastic about for so long.

As he has always wanted to join the army I knew he would throw himself into this completely.

He sat and told me all about the cemeteries you visited and the museums and he obviously had a big interest as he had taken so much information on board that it just was so easy for him to recall all that he’d been told.

So once again, Thank you, I really appreciate the impact this has had on him.

Kind Regards

Hello Mr Stroud

I have been meaning to email you for a while. Would just like to say thank you for teaching my daughter so well. As you may or may not be aware my daughter struggles sometimes and often comes home upset through not understanding, but she has never had anything but good things to say about you and your teaching, and seems to really enjoy your classes. The stickers that you hand out are fantastic and they have pride of place on my fridge next to her year 2 sisters and she is very proud of them (not that she would admit it!!)
I also never got round to thanking you for my other daughter too, she felt the same about your classes.

Any way just wanted to say thank you and keep up the good work it makes a difference.

Many thanks again

Morning Tracey,

I was driving through Sandwich yesterday at 16.05 while approaching the new pedestrian crossing by the petrol station, I noticed a lady struggling with a gentleman in a wheelchair, at the top of the steps, to the rope/butts walk, one chap walked passed, looked at them and carried on walking.

3, 14/15/16 year old boys from Sandwich Tec, green/yellow and red, crossed the road, took the wheelchair from the lady and brought the gentleman down the steps.

Well done to those boys, they represented the school and showed the public how lovely the youth of today can be.

Made me smile, and so pleased to be involved with the school.

Warm Regards

‘Ofsted praise’

Dear Mr McAuley,

I would like to say congratulations to all on the fantastic Ofsted result, you as a team must all be thrilled. I personally think the school does really well with regards to ‘Outcomes’ considering many children locally attend Grammar School, it sometimes feels it’s not a level playing field.

Hi Mrs Stone,

I hope you are well!

I am currently studying Psychology on the Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) Foundation Year at Oxford University and have secured a place to study a Psychology undergraduate degree at Oxford.

I was wondering whether you would be interested in me coming back to STS to talk to some Sixth Form students about life at University, the Foundation Year, and maybe give guidance about applying to University/Oxford? Or if you know of any students in younger year groups who might be interested in Oxford then that would also be great.

I think there might also be a way of arranging a school visit to LMH in case you’re interested in that. I think there’s a budget so they can pay for about 15 students to come to Oxford for the day.

It would be nice to hear from you again!

Kind regards,

Lauren

Voicemail received from a Year 11 parent:

“Thank you so much for an amazing year and amazing school life. My son has had the most wonderful experience with you at Sandwich Technology School. I don’t quite know who to thank because I’ve literally just sent him off every day. He has had the best and most positive experience that a secondary school could have provided so thank you so much.”

Regarding a careers event:

Hello Sarah,

I just wanted to say again how great I thought yesterday was. The event was really well organised and structured for both us as exhibitors and for the students. I was also really impressed by the attitude and behaviour of your students. From a professional point of view I think it is the most engaged group I have seen this year. In addition, as a parent of one of your pupils, I am so pleased to see how well the school is managed, how nice the teaching staff are and how much effort is put into to helping students with their options.

Thank you again.

Dear Tracey

I wanted to send you a quick email to say thank you for sending your pupils to our school with Mr Cadby to help with our sports day. The children were a huge credit to you and the staff at your school. They were helpful, polite and followed our school rules perfectly.

Having been let down at the last minute by a local school, I contacted other schools to see if anyone could help us. An email I sent ended up with your Head of PE, Chris. He called me straight away to put a plan in place. Later that day he emailed me to confirm 10 students would be coming on the school minibus with Mr Cadby.

The two gentlemen I dealt with were extremely professional, dedicated and proactive in helping us. Mr Cadby took time to get to know the little boy who is starting at Sandwich Tech in September. Which was lovely for our pupil, he expressed his delight in starting his secondary school with Mr Cadby. The day wouldn't have been successful if it hadn't have been for the support from your staff and pupils. We had several parents comment on how grown up the pupils were and asked which school they were from. Chris and Alan took the time to prepare everything, speak to parents and went above and beyond for us. Please would you send on my sincerest thanks and share my email with them.

Once again, thank you for allowing your students to help us. We would love to continue with this and hope that you may be available on our Sports Day next year.

Best wishes

Hi Mr Sharples,

Sincere apologies for having to leave this evenings meeting early. I was very much enjoying the informative and interesting presentation (great history lesson!).

Thomas is very much looking forward to the battlefields trip and revisiting some of the places we all went to as a family in 2017.
